| 2009 Swim Team Newsletter: This newsletter has all the important information, but if you have questions, please feel free to email or call any of the board members. Please forward to anyone you know wants to know more about the 2009 Valley Dolphins - 8 Time State Champions! Go Dolphins! Changes from Last Year... Registration Fee: We are adding $10 to the registration fee per swimmer this year - We have not raised the fee in a couple of years, but we need a little more operating funds this year to make things run smoothly... Volunteer Hours Required: We are adding a Volunteer Requirement for all swimmers and families. In the past there has always been great support for meets, events and fund-raisers, but this year with our new online registration, we can actually have you sign-up for volunteer jobs online and it will help us keep track of what you have completed. If you cannot complete your obligated hours there is a “pay-off” option as well. See more details below... Online Registration: This year we will be trying out an Online Registration System. You will have to setup your family account and enter all your swimmers names, health information, birth dates and etc... It will also let you enter the sizes of shirts and suits and other extras. You can change your contact information anytime and/or pay your swim team bills online as well. More information will be handed out at the Preseason Practices and sent out to the email list as well. Coaches: We are proud to have Dani Quarry and Gaelen Horne returning as Co-Head Coaches their final season. We are still in the process of figuring out assistant coaches. Vanessa and Andy and others will continue to participate as needed and at their own convenience. It will be good to see them anytime! A little from this year's coaches... Dani: I have been a competitive club swimmer since the age of 6. I swam for CSST for 10 years and AFAF for 2 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I recently graduated from Southern Illinois University where I was a part of the Division 1 swim team for four years. During this time, I was selected to the All-Conference team all four years and also received multiple honors as a student-athlete scholar. I am returning to be a Co-Head Coach and am very excited to have another great summer. If you have any questions for me please feel free to email me at danielle.quarry@yahoo.com. Gaelen: I recently completed my fourth year of collegiate swimming at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. I started swimming competitively when I was eleven years old for Colorado Springs Swim Team before moving to the Air Force Academy Falfins in high school. Last summer was my co-head coaching position at Valley and we had a tremendous year. I have always loved the sport of swimming and last summer was my chance to help others find their love for the sport as well. Since last summer, I have learned a great deal that I can not wait to bring to Valley. Feel free to contact me at G0horn01@louisville.edu if you have any questions. Days - Every Mon and Wed in May (First one May 4) Times - (Just like last year...) 5:30 to 7:00 --- 13-18's 6:30 to 7:30 --- 9-12's 7:15 to 8:00 --- 8 & U's Registration Information: Registration Q & A and suit Sizing occurs during the May Preseason practices at Coronado. Online registration will be available May 4 so get your swimmer registered as soon as possible. The earlier the better! Here are the membership Prices: Team Registration (Each additional swimmer from a family 10% off) - Pool Member $140.00 - Non-Member $240.00 Team Suits (Required) - Sizing Suits will be available at the May Preseason Practices - Girls Approx - $50.00 - Boys Jammer Approx. $35.00 - Boys Brief Approx. $30.00 USS Swim Fee $30.00 Volunteer Obligation $100 (Paid only if a minimum of 10 volunteer hours not served per family) Valley Swim team Discount Cards $15.00 (New Team Families - 1 per Swimmer - These can be sold to other people!) Team Swim Cap Latex Incl. in Registration Fee Silicon (optional) $11.00 Team T-Shirt - Included in Registration Fee Registrations will be online and taken in the order received. We may need to cap age groups to allow for quality practice time. All pool member children are welcome, but remember we have a limit of non-pool-members we can have on the team. If you are interested in a pool membership or renting a membership for the 2009 Summer Season, please call Chris Nichols at 264-9489.
